We have an exciting opportunity for four graduates or individuals with prior work experience to join Marsh Advisory. Working for Marsh Advisory, you will either engage with clients directly or in support of the broking business to develop and deliver innovative solutions to clients beyond the buying of insurance. Solutions may include better risk management approaches, handling of complex claims and the use of data-driven analysis to inform a client’s insurance strategy.

We are seeking 2 x Generalist Consultants and 2 x Specialist Consultants (Operational Risk and Claims) – detailed below – to join our fast growing team. These positions will suit candidates qualified to degree level (ideally with some professional work experience) who are looking to kick-start their early career in risk and insurance.

    What you can expect

We have a strong “grow our own” policy, and we develop colleagues through a mix of formal learning and on-the-job training. Our early careers programme has two primary paths:

In the Generalist track, you will

    • Sit primarily in our Strategic Risk Consulting team where we help clients to identify, quantify and manage their strategic risk and insurance problems (e.g. cyber, climate change), and support them to improve their resiliency for when things do go wrong.
    • Support senior consultants to provide risk management advice and consultancy to Marsh clients, including the delivery of tailored risk management solutions and bespoke insurance programmes
    • Be trained in all aspects of the job by experienced colleagues and follow a structured and proven training programme, as well as completing your ACII qualification
    • Have the opportunity to work with colleagues and clients spanning just about every industry, both in the UK and internationally
    • Gain exposure to projects in other areas of the business through rotations including in Analytics, Claims, Operational Risk Consulting, Sales, Digital & Innovation, and Financial Solutions Group

In the Specialist track, you will specialise in one area of Marsh Advisory depending on skills, education and/or experience, for example

    • Operational Risk Consulting: delivering risk management support and services to enable optimum placement of insurance, minimise risk exposure and provide risk insight through expertise including: health & safety, property risk engineering and motor fleet risk management
    • Claims Solutions: supporting clients when disaster strikes, ensuring the policy works in the correct way and our clients obtain the settlement they are due
    • Analytics Solutions: actuarial and data-driven services to clients and prospects; using and developing actuarial and financial models to support clients’ decision making on insurance and financial risk issues
    • In addition to the training provided in the Generalist track, you’ll complete specialist qualifications e.g. FIA, NEBOSH, ACA/ACCA (depending on which area you are in)

You are provided with a buddy, a technical advisor, a mentor and a coach to guide you through development and relevant qualifications as well as ongoing support from your manager.

    What you need to have

    • A 2:1 degree classification (for Specialist track: engineering, science or law for Operational Risk and accounting/finance for Claims Solutions required)
    • Willingness to travel
    • Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK or Republic of Ireland.

    What makes you stand out

    • Previous work experience in any of the following areas: engineering, law, claims, risk management, insurance, health and safety, construction
    • Demonstrating an analytical, creative and resilient mindset, an ability to communicate, high attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work in teams and cultivate relationships
    • Language and coding skills

    What’s in it for you?

    • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits including: excellent pension contribution, tuition access, employee assistance programme, employee resource groups, volunteer and mentoring opportunities
    • Flexible working
    • 27 days holiday with the option to buy and sell up to 5 days per annum
    • Sponsorship through professional qualifications
    • The opportunity to work in an exciting environment in one of Marsh’s fastest growing and dynamic divisions, learning from a highly skilled team
