It is often said that the Claims Department is the shop window of the insurance industry it is the end-product that clients are buying when they pay their insurance premiums. It is for this reason that Marsh invests heavily in its claims team and has a genuine desire to build a market-leading team of claims professionals. Our Claims team spans all classes of insurance and we have the depth and breadth to deal with anything from a minor motor incident to multi-billion dollar losses. In this role you will work within the retail division of Marsh, dealing primarily with claims arising from EL, PL, Products, Motor and Property policies.
The Claims Executive role is a client-facing, value-creating role which enhances Marsh’s competitive position. Claims Executives draw on their experience to help clients to solve Claims issues and ensure that they receive a best-in-class claims service from all suppliers in the Claims management process. We advocate for each of our clients to achieve a reduction in the total cost of third party claims, placing clients in the best position possible for their renewals. Claims Executives also help to maximise claims settlements on first party claims to limit the business impact of claims.
In this role, you work with the account owners, placement brokers and claims analysts to devise and deliver a joined up claims service plan which meets the client’s needs.
As a Trainee Claims Executive you will have an opportunity to learn the role from the ground up while working within the world’s largest insurance brokerage. Your accelerated development will see you:
- Undertaking CII studies to achieve the Advanced Diploma in Insurance.
- Seconded to various claims teams within Marsh and also externally with loss adjusters, insurers, Third Party Administrators (TPAs) and insurance law firms.
- Attending professional development events in parallel with the Marsh Graduate Scheme.
- Developing your skills and knowledge on-the-job by assisting and shadowing experienced team members.
- Working on cross-functional projects which enhance the Marsh claims experience for clients and drive operational efficiencies.
- Taking on your own book of clients whenever your technical and professional development permits – normally within a year.
- Working with a large variety of FTSE 250 clients and some of the largest organisations in the world.
You will be joining a team of experienced Claims Executives who have a variety of backgrounds in claims, law, loss adjusting and other industry specialisms. The Trainee role aims to fast-track your development to get your career in claims off to a flying start.

What you need to have
- A degree with a 2:1 or higher OR 2-3 years’ experience in a claims handling role OR 3 strong A Levels and the right attitude.
- A thirst for personal development and a good work ethic.
- An interest in the field of Claims and the insurance industry more generally.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
