    We’re committed to supporting those at the start of their career in Fashion and with our 12 month Technical Services placement, you’ll be working closely with our Garment Technologists and Buying teams to develop and update product ranges whilst maintaining Matalan's high-quality standards.

    The Role

    Each day is different, you’re continuously faced with new and exciting challenges, giving you the opportunity to develop and progress on your placement, and gaining knowledge to help in your future Technical Services career.

    As the Technical Services Placement student, you’ll attend fit sessions with the Buying teams, taking notes and offering solutions to issues, contributing more to the meetings as your knowledge increases.

    You’ll book all samples into the Technical Services team, taking measurements and organising before and during fit sessions to ensure an efficient flow of garments through the department.

    You’ll contact suppliers with clear and concise comments regarding each sample, liaising with the Garment Technologists for advice and guidance.

    About You

    To find the best student for our Technical Services team, we’d like you to have the following...

    • Currently a 2nd-year student, ideally studying a clothing technology or design related degree that requires you to complete a 12-month placement. Start date - July 2023
    • Previous retail work experience would be advantageous
    • Self-motivated and committed to developing your skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage own workload
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Excel
