    We are now looking for a Placement UX Designer to join #TeamGreen in the UK. The role can be based from our Manchester-HQ, or remotely across the UK or Ireland.

    The Student UX Designer is responsible for owning and contributing to UX Research and Design activities that support our mission of creating a best-in-class experience for Matillion customers.

    You’ll have the opportunity and support to learn-as-you-go in an exciting, fast paced SaaS environment — ensuring that the customer is at the heart of everything we do. Working with other UX Designers who’ll mentor you through a range of challenges and opportunities, you’ll develop skills and learn tools and methodologies that help you become a great problem solver. All of which will be supported additionally by dedicated time towards your personal growth and development, allowing you to explore the many facets of UX to discover what you enjoy most and where you’d like to grow.

    What you will be doing

    Work with UX Designers, Product Managers, Engineers and Customers to deliver and launch product features

    • Plan and conduct user research activities (surveys, interviews, usability testing)
    • Assist in the creation of UX product deliverables (task flows, wireframes, prototypes and UI)
    • Collaborate in the creation of UX artefacts (personas, customer journey maps, service blueprints etc.)
    • Communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and design thinking methodology to the wider business
    • Help progress the Matillion design language and visual style
    • Support and participate in design workshops and discussions
    • Help turn design requirements in to tickets for engineers to deliver
    • Learn new design tools, ideologies and frameworks that help deliver great software efficiently

    Own design tasks / projects

    • Conduct heuristic UX analysis of internal and competitor products to provide competitive intelligence for the business
    • Analyse product data to discover and define opportunities
    • Consolidate research findings in to presentations to communicate with the business
    • Advance the UX Design and UX Research knowledge base content, usability, reach and engagement in the business
    • Support, formalise and automate internal processes to drive improved efficiency in the design team
    • Document / Blog your UX journey at Matillion to provide increased exposure to the outside design world

    What we are looking for

    Required

    • Background in design or related studies
    • A passion for people, psychology, business and technology
    • Interest in how to create innovative data software products that help people achieve more!

    Nice to haves

    • Studying / Studied UX, another design discipline, HCI or psychology
    • Portfolio / Projects demonstrating experience with design methodologies / tools (Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, InVision etc)
    • Familiarity with:
      • User research
      • Responsive web design, HTML and CSS
      • Data and data concepts
      • Cloud technology
      • Designing for accessibility
