Maven’s Risk Management Department is responsible for monitoring and controlling market and operational risk across the business as well as providing in-depth reporting on each business line and strategy.

As a core global team, Risk covers Maven holistically across the Proprietary Trading, Market Making and Systematic Alpha businesses and is continually working to identify and mitigate new risks by remaining open minded, objective and comprehensive. The risk team helps Maven grow by working closely with the business to deliver timely market leading risk monitoring and reporting tools.

    The Role

The Risk Graduate Program involves a significant amount of day-day quantitative data analysis. As a Junior Risk Analyst you will work closely with the broader market, operational and reporting risk analysts to assist the Global Head of Risk. Over time, you will gain direct exposure to our Portfolio Managers to ensure risk limit compliance, analyse exposures and sensitivities, assist in new strategy/product onboarding, and execute risk model enhancements.

You will complete intensive training in options theory and valuation using Maven’s proprietary valuation libraries. There will be training in quantitative equity risk modelling taking you through fundamental and statistical risk models, and how we at Maven consider equity risk. Further formal training will also cover areas such as credit and equity derivative risk modelling. In parallel to the product and strategy training, you will also be given training sessions on how to use the Maven Python libraries, and our workflow best practices around development and deployment of scripts.

The training will be completed via a series of on the job training sessions with time given for self study. Performance will be assessed by your ability to synthesise information, communicate well with key stakeholders in front office, technology, and operations, and confidence in articulating ideas or risk concerns to the broader risk team and stakeholders.

The expectation is that successful candidates completing the Risk Analyst Program will grow into valued and high profile individuals within the risk team, acknowledged by the front office as technical experts and partners to their continued success.
