About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic intern to join our Build Development team on a 10-week summer internship programme which will help you develop planning, leadership and communication skills, and will run between 27th June to 2nd September 2022.
McCarthy Stone’s internship programme will provide you with the opportunity to gain first class industry experience while earning a competitive salary. Taking part in our intern programme will enable you to add practical experience to your CV and will ensure you have a deep understanding of our business, and how we operate.
We’d like you to
- Assist our teams working with architects, engineers, and surveyors who are developing the design of our state of the art buildings.
- Get to know, understand and contribute to key stakeholder relationships.
- Communicate regularly with the team; including construction managers, subcontractors and quantity surveyors - your role throughout the construction phase might involve recording, reporting and helping to resolve problems that might arise.
- Help produce various reports to update the management team on progress and budget.
- Visit and increase your familiarity with our sites and site management teams; understand what our Sales teams need to know to be effective.
Alongside your role, you will be part of a cohort of interns that will enable you to start building your professional network at McCarthy Stone. There will also be Learning and Development opportunities to get involved with throughout your internship with us including insight and skills sessions and ‘lunch and learns‘ on key business topics.
About You
Education and Qualifications
- Studying towards a degree in construction/engineering or any relevant degree that has a focus on project management
- 2 A-levels in any subject OR Level 3 qualification in a similar Project Management qualification or engineering discipline
- Equivalent of 5 GCSEs, grades A*-C or 9-4, including Maths and English
Personal Attributes
- Interested in a career in the Construction sector
- Organised and works well to deadlines.
- Able to multitask and prioritise.
- Communicates clearly, both written and verbally.
- Shows a good level of attention to detail.
- Works well within a team, but equally on their own.
- Good at building working relationships

- Computer literate and has experience in Microsoft Office software.
