About our finance undergraduate programme
We are looking for five enthusiastic Undergraduate Placement students, who want to put their financial awareness, commercial acumen and interpersonal skills to the test.
From day one, you’ll be working on topics and projects that make a difference and add value. You’ll shake things up, shape trends and deliver outstanding work. We will be taking one student in each of the following departments.
Group Controlling
In this department, you will be the cost controller for several key areas of the business including our Legal, Finance & Network Operations departments. You will create budgets for these departments to track spend and work with our business partners to hopefully reduce costs.
Cars Controlling
In Cars Controlling you will support the work of the MB Management Team with respect of all items affecting financial performance, including all associated reporting, planning and accounting tasks. You will have the opportunity to create tools such as KPI dashboards to help steer the Sales Business.
Vans Controlling
In Vans, you will support month-end closing and forecasting processes with management KPI reporting, dealer pricing support and working on continuous improvement projects.
Accounting
In the Accounting Department, you will be responsible for month-end closing activities for a number of Mercedes-Benz companies. You will also work with the Accounts Receivable department to assist in the reconciliation of customer accounts.
Residual Value
In this department, you will support with the analysing and forecasting of residual values for the Mercedes-Benz Car & Van Portfolio. You will conduct in-depth analysis and research to support decision-making, monitor industry trends and collaborate with internal teams to maximise profitability.
Group Tax
In Group Tax you will gain an understanding and awareness of the various tax compliance obligations of a large global brand. You will support the department with Customs Compliance, VAT, Employment Taxes & Corporation Tax.

Candidate eligibility
- Currently studying for a degree within Finance, Accounting, Tax or related subject with an expected 2:1 grade or above
- Currently studying a degree that enables you to complete a year in industry before you graduate
- Strong organisational skills
- IT literate and attention to detail
- Excel skills
- Excellent communication
- Exceptional numerical and interpersonal skills
- The curiosity to learn, and seek new ideas and perspectives

How to apply
If you progress to the next stage, you will be invited to complete some online tests that can be done at home. Successful completion will then see you invited to a short online interview with a member of the HR Team to get to know you and what you can bring to the role.
After this, if you are successful, we will invite you to attend an assessment centre day at our head office in Milton Keynes. Here you’ll have an introduction to what it will be really like being one of our apprentices and meet the wider team. If you are successful at this stage, we will make you a verbal offer and confirm in writing.
