Design & Content Industrial Placement 2023

The Met Office is delighted to open our advertising for a number of progressive Industrial Placements, which will commence from July 2023 until July 2024.

We are looking for an exceptional Design & Content Industrial Placement to help us make a difference to our planet.

Our Design & Content Industrial Placement will work a hybrid pattern of homeworking, spending at least two days a week in our Exeter HQ. You will receive a salary of £20,048 in line with planned increase to National Living Wage from April 2023, plus amazing benefits.

Job Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Met Office on a 12-month Year In Industry placement, developing your skills and knowledge and ensuring you gain the most value possible from your experience with us.

You will have the opportunity to network with our cohort of Industrial Placement all over the Met Office and understand what career opportunities we can offer you after you graduate. As our Design & Content Industrial Placement, the key duties are:

• Interpret communication briefs to create visual material that satisfies customer requirements including design consultancy.
• Ensure that visual material conforms to Met Office brand guidelines.
• Liaise with internal customers to ensure that changes and updates are made quickly and efficiently.
• Continuously develop knowledge and skills associated with latest design technology and software such as animation.
• Contribute, when required, to other content outputs/activities such as social media champion, Studio operation, live broadcasts and regular brainstorm sessions.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, with an interest in animation.
• Evidence that you push yourself to keep evolving, designing for (and using!) social media.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Enthusiasm and creative flair, truly living and breathing design.
• Understanding of branding.
• A strong portfolio of multi-channel work.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
