This opportunity is aimed at undergraduates taking a 'sandwich degree', seeking practical work experience before committing to enter the profession.

We offer the chance to fully understand working life and the unique culture we have at MHA.

This is a paid internship lasting for 12 months. Please note that this is a competitive application process. This may involve online testing, an assessment centre, and a formal interview.

We understand that entrepreneurs are driven by vision - and thrive on change. We know the importance of seizing the advantage in a constantly evolving environment. We appreciate the powerful forces that motivate both small & medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and larger enterprises chasing growth.

Our values underpin how our people and clients experience MHA. Through our core values of Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Relationships, we can help you achieve your goals.

What will I do?

You will work with experienced people, with both Partner and client contact. You will be a valuable part of a team undertaking real client work, contributing to the teams' overall success.

You'll be part of a team working on audit and accounts preparation assignments with a wide range of clients, so it goes without saying that you need to be someone that can be relied upon to help the team deliver outstanding levels of client care.

Some of your responsibilities may includ

  • working closely with your mentor on audit planning memorandum,
  • analytical reviews,
  • drafting client letters,
  • preparing accounts, and
  • producing sets of financial statements.

We will ensure you receive as broad an exposure to practical work as possible. You'll also work closely with a mentor who will provide support and guidance during your time with us.

In 2020, we won the Best Advisory Services category of the new Business Resilience Awards, organised by Accountancy Age. Previously, we won National Firm of the Year, Tax Team of the Year and Graduate and Non-Graduate programme of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards, we internationally re-branded, and we grew substantially with a few high-profile mergers. It's an exciting time to join the firm!

Entry requirements

We do not require interns to have a business or financial background. However, we do ask that applicants for our placement programme have at least 112 UCAS points at A-level, or equivalent, all achieved during the same exam year and excluding General Studies, plus are on track to achieve at least a 2:1 degree in any discipline.

Thank you for choosing to apply for one of our 2024 Trainee positions at MHA. We are looking forward to hearing more about you!

Application process

Our advice is for you to work your way through the application process with care and attention, as the questions you answer as part of your application will allow for our assessors to determine whether they should progress you through to the next stages. This will include online testing and an assessment centre - dependent on the role you are applying for. This is your time to shine!

Give us as much detail as possible, spell check your answers and don't forget to re-read the application before you submit it at the end!

We are looking forward to reading more about your academic background, motivations of starting a career within accountancy and why you have applied to MHA!

Our application form takes just a few minutes to complete and includes some diversity questions. MHA is a committed member of Access Accountancy and as such, we track our diversity stats and actively work to improve on these, year on year, looking at new ways to promote our roles to the widest audience.
