MI5, MI6 and GCHQ are the UK’s Intelligence Services. We work together to safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from various threats at home, overseas and online, including cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organised crime. Working across our vital missions, you’ll deliver impact at the heart of national security, all within a supportive and inclusive environment that allows everyone to thrive.
About the roles
Working in an admin role at MI5, MI6 or GCHQ means you’ll be at the heart of what we do, providing the vital administrative service behind the UK’s Intelligence Services.
We’ll soon be recruiting for Administrative Officers at MI5 and GCHQ, Business Support Officers at MI6, and Senior Administrative Officers at MI5. Whichever you choose to apply for, you’ll work as part of a friendly team and gain new skills, meet unique requirements and provide mission-critical business support. Depending on the role, that could involve:
- Managing databases
- Writing reports
- Working alongside intelligence teams
- Arranging diaries, meetings and travel
- Assisting visitors
- Research and project work
Plus, with dedicated training and development opportunities, you’ll be able to shape your career and unlock your potential. Whether you’re seeking your first professional role or you’re looking for a career change, our admin roles provide a unique opportunity to do varied, fascinating work – and build a truly rewarding career along the way.
About you
Organised, reliable and collaborative, you’ll also have attention to detail and be comfortable talking to a range of people. There’s no ‘type’ of person we look for; the important thing is that you’re willing to learn, contribute and develop your skills as part of our organisations. Please note, you’ll need a minimum of two GCSEs in maths and English language at grade C/4 (or above) for these roles, or relevant experience working in admin already. For the Business Support Officer role, you’ll need five GCSEs including the above.
We’d particularly encourage people from Black, Asian or other ethnic minority backgrounds* to register their interest for these roles. We recognise these groups are currently underrepresented in our workforce. We value a culture where different insights, perspectives and experiences are welcomed – and where you’ll always be encouraged to contribute, shape our work and be yourself.
