GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber and security agency with a mission to keep the UK safe. We use cutting-edge technology, ingenuity and partnerships to identify, analyse and disrupt threats. Working with our intelligence partners MI5 and MI6, we protect the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks and espionage. At GCHQ you’ll do varied and fascinating work in a supportive and inclusive environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.
As a Knowledge and Information Manager, you’ll support our intelligence community and contribute to the success of operations. Working within our Knowledge and Information team, you’ll oversee the provision and secure sharing of information, assist colleagues across our organisation, and help to future-proof our services to meet ever-changing demands.
You might have a degree and/or a post-graduate qualification in a subject such as Information Management, Records and Archives or Librarianship, or you might already be working in one of these fields. You’ll have a genuine interest and aptitude for the knowledge and information profession, as well as collaboration and customer service skills.
This is a varied role. Whether you’re ensuring information is shared in line with legal responsibilities, managing our intranet and corporate records estate, or supporting colleagues on our systems – you’ll engage with those seeking secure information, and make sure it’s accessible, usable, and secure. Plus, with your problem-solving skills, you’ll identify new ways for us to meet the needs of our intelligence community. From fast-paced information technologies to innovative ways of working, you’ll work on a diverse range of projects designed to keep us up-to-speed with an ever-evolving mission.
To apply, you’ll need a degree and/or a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject or experience in a similar role. Motivated, organised and adaptable, you’ll be someone who enjoys finding solutions and supporting others to get what they need. And we’ll support you too, with a range of great benefits and opportunities for career growth.
You’ll receive a full induction and training on our systems, as well as encouragement to gain professional accreditation from bodies such as AIIM, IRMS and CILIP. We offer flexible working and already facilitate different working patterns within the team. Plus, you’ll receive other benefits including 25 days’ annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), an interest-free season ticket loan, paid parental and adoption leave, and access to our on-site facilities.
Ours is an open, inclusive workplace where you’ll find a range of sport, interest and social clubs as well as a number of growing affinity groups including ethnic minority and gender equality networks, wellbeing, mental health, neurodiversity and disability groups, LGBTQ+ support groups and faith/no faith communities. At GCHQ diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including those from groups that are under-represented in our workforce such as women, those from an ethnic minority background, people with disabilities and those from low socio-economic backgrounds.
