This is a job opportunity to work as part of the Human Machine Interface Division (HMID) and provide the innovation and inventions seen in future years for automotive and industrial design. An exciting opportunity to join the world leader in touch screen and human interface solutions. This involves designing and developing algorithms and hardware for two and three-dimensional user interface. Reporting to an appointed mentor engineer, you will be part of the R&D, Firmware, or Applications Groups within the Human Machine Interface Division (HMID) business unit, based in Whiteley, UK. As a Student Intern, you will be assigned work packages suitable to your experience and skills in order to make a valid contribution to our work.
We are offering a 12-month placement for students. This position will allow you to gain experience working in a professional environment, to learn more about the full product development lifecycle, and to develop a closer understanding of our industry and its technologies.
What you'll do
During your internship, we expect you to be assigned several different work packages — typical examples include:
- Development of software to enhance firmware simulator tool
- Updating firmware to increase compliance with industry coding standards
- Development of software for Unit Test and/or Integration Test harnesses
- Support for automated test strategies for firmware qualification
- Implementation/updating of custom test equipment
- Validation testing for new products
- Scripting execution of automated test sequences and recording of test results
Requirements/Qualifications
- Completed second year of Electronics Engineering degree (or similar)
- Previous experience working in electronics or related industry would be an advantage
Competencies
- Programming skills in C (preferably for embedded products) and/or C#
- Programming skills in Python or similar scripting languages
- Experience with debugging digital electronics, including familiarity with use of oscilloscopes and related equipment
- Excellent communication skills
