Our Housing Legal Team is growing!
We're seeking a Legal Assistant to join our established in-house legal team on a full-time, permanent basis. You'll work closely with our Housing Solicitors and Head of Housing Litigation, delivering an internal customer-focused service, to successfully resolve housing management and tenancy enforcement matters including those relating to anti-social behaviour.
You'll be responsible for a varied caseload under the supervision of a Housing Solicitor. You'll have the opportunity to prepare claim forms, pleadings and witness statements to enable the successful preparation and response to housing and civil litigation actions. You'll also provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on a range of housing matters and other related issues.
This is an ideal opportunity to gain exposure to housing law and civil litigation, as well as developing your skills within a collaborative and supportive team of expert legal professionals. At times you will be needed to attend court to represent Midland Heart, primarily to instruct counsel; for candidates seeking the opportunity to develop their advocacy experience, we can support this too!
Our ideal candidate?
You'll hold a 2:1 Law Degree or above, and practical experience in a legal role; OR you'll be LPC-qualified (or equivalent, i.e. SQE-qualified).
You'll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, sufficient to produce letters, court pleadings and witness statements, as well as engage with clients, witnesses and liaise with counsel and the Courts.
You'll be highly organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise a large and varied caseload with competing priorities and deadlines and be able to deal with complex situations logically.
Previous experience working within a civil litigation environment, including civil drafting and trial preparation e.g. preparing bundles, and an understanding of the CPR is desirable.
