The role
This role is in the Measurement & Reporting team which forms one of the key pillars of the wider Global Technology team. The team specifies, designs and builds enterprise level reporting, business intelligence and analytics solutions for some of the world’s biggest brands across FMCG, Luxury and Automotive.
The role is a blend of consultancy, operational excellence and technical ability with a solid understanding of the practical realities of what it takes to measure the right thing, so no fluffy rubbish that looks good on paper but can’t be implemented in a real world context. The ambition of the team is:
- To surface more, and better quality insight, to understand how to improve communication effectiveness (media & creative), more quickly.
- In order to do this, we need to bring data together in one place so that we can visualise what’s happening across campaigns, brands, countries, etc.
- Global visibility can only be realised when data are organised and aligned across all local and international activity.
- Using only data that we know is important because it has been defined by a measurement framework that provides focus and clarity.
Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who can work with people from different disciplines as and when required, to deliver best in class solutions for our clients.
Someone who has a solid understanding of the digital media across a verity of platforms, who can understand how KPIs and metrics should be reported on, at both global and local level, as well as what insightful stories and trends you can tell from readily available data. You will be:
- Working with clients to understand measurement and reporting requirements.
- Managing naming convention consultancy and deployment across multiple countries and agency groups, within WPP and beyond.
- Building amazing dashboards that provide clients and agency teams with the critical data they need to see every day.
- Building data dictionaries that can be used to help structure API data collection and data models.
- Working with data engineers to build the data models that form the foundation for any reporting solution.
- Coming up with smarter ways to apply automation to day to day tasks that can be used by any team anywhere in the world.
Essential criteria
- Experience across a wide range of digital media platforms, including, but not limited to DV360, The Trade Desk, Google Ads, or Meta.
- Strong knowledge of media metrics and dimensions, by platform, knowing what they mean and how they should be used, along with how things are measured.
- Analytical mindset, able to approach issues and challenges from a variety of angles.
- An eye for visual representation of data via dashboards, reports, or PowerPoint.
- Highly numerate, with strong mathematical acumen.
- Advanced Excel user.
- Self-starter and motivator with the ability to work in an autonomous environment.
- The ability to quickly learn and understand new business environments.
- The ability to achieve high quality results by paying attention to detail.
- A proactive, “can do” attitude.
- The ability to work on multiple tasks/projects, work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
- A natural desire to share knowledge and teach others.
- Ability to switch between projects and challenges to support teams.
- Great verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Advertising / Marketing / Media data.
- Cultural sensitivity about different world cultures and the ability to think globally.
Desirable criteria
- Build global reporting solutions to easily translate complex data points to digestible information across different stakeholders using interactive reporting solutions such as PowerBI, Excel, Looker Data Studio.
- At least a basic understanding of data modelling and data connection API requirements.
- Ability to perform basic data transformations requirements, and manipulate data in various ways.
- Experience in data modelling and data manipulation.
- Experience with third party data management and reporting platforms, e.g. Datorama or Adverity
- Experience in Microsoft SQL Server and writing SQL basic queries to help with trouble shooting data queries.
- Understand analytic tools such as, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics.
