The Office of the Secretary of State for Wales is the face of the UK Government in Wales and the voice of Wales in Westminster. About the role
The successful candidate will be joining the Wales Office Communications Team, which currently consists of seven other experienced Comms professionals. They are open to innovative ideas and have an excellent reputation for delivering quality results.
As a Video and Social Media Producer, you will be an integral part of the team and will have the chance to put your content creation, campaigning, social media, and data analysis skills into practice by helping the Office to deliver on high-profile projects.

Key responsibilities
This post would suit someone who is an excellent communicator and has an in-depth knowledge of social media platforms with the skills necessary to create compelling and distinctive content.
This role will involve:
- Travelling around Wales with the Secretary of State and Minister gathering video content and editing them for our social media platforms.
- Delivering multiple projects to varied deadlines with a high level of accountability.
- Collaborating with colleagues across media, Ministerial events, stakeholder teams and wider government to provide support.
- Identifying and delivering creative solutions to reach target audiences through different channels and platforms.
- Using influencing skills to work with the relevant cross-government and Wales Office teams in the development and delivery of communications activity.
- Using insight gained to assess the effectiveness of content used on social/digital media channels and to recognise patterns and trends, drawing key conclusions to help improve the impact of our digital communication.
- Championing digital engagement and social media, sharing expertise to build capability across communication teams and the wider Department.
- You will work closely with the Head of News and Digital to plan, develop, and oversee the delivery of output for the Secretary of State for Wales, ministers, and the department.
- Evaluating key communications activities, considering consequences and recommendations for the future.
- Representing the Wales Office in cross government meetings and forums.
- The post is based in Cardiff with regular travel around Wales and to London expected.
- Each member of the team takes part in an on-call system, for which there is allowance, to take out-of-hours calls from the media. This is done on a rotational basis and full training will be given.

Person specification
You will primarily be gathering and editing video as well as creating graphics and animations and will help to oversee Wales Office social media channels. You will know how to create content which is compelling and distinctive. You will be an excellent communicator with in-depth knowledge of a range of social media platforms.

The Office of the Secretary of State for Wales is not an employer in its own right. Staff recruited to work at the OSSW will be employees of the Ministry of Justice who provide employment services on our behalf.
This role requires CTC level clearance. Applicants for National Security Clearance (CTC) must be resident in the UK for 3 years immediately prior to their application for Security Clearance.
