The position is based in the Labs at GSK Barnard Castle. The Laboratory Support Assistant's role is to provide support to the Laboratory Analysts and drive improvements.
Main duties
The role will include, but is not limited to:
- Waste management
- Administration
- Stock Management and Eluent Preparation
- Replenishment of laboratory chemicals, solvents, and consumables
- Cleaning of specialist glassware
- Daily, weekly, monthly calibrations and functionality testing of assorted laboratory equipment
- Adherence to calibration schedules and completion of appropriate documentation to GxP standards
- Monitor fridge/freezer temperatures
- Archiving
- Preparing boxes of keeping samples
- Booking in samples
- Preparing samples for shipping
Other duties
Requirement to work flexibly, to encompass any urgent or unanticipated needs arising for increases or decreasesin plant production schedules
What we are looking for
- An enthusiastic, flexible and hard-working individual who is a good team player but can also work well independently.
- Confidence and communication skills to challenge behaviours and drive continuous improvement
- Must be IT literate.
- Preferably Educated to A level/Higher upwards in a science subject (preferably chemistry)
- Can perform under pressure and independent of supervision
- Customer focused and works well as a team
- Attention to detail & capability to work methodically to strict processes and procedures
- Strong organisational skills and able to priortise tasks appropriately
