    There are three principal components of the Primary Debt Markets business at Mizuho International namely Corporate & Public Sector Debt Capital Markets (‘C&PS DCM’), Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets (‘FI DCM’) and Debt Syndicate.

    The Role

    The C&PS DCM team’s primary role is to provide debt financing solutions for Mizuho Financial Group’s global corporate, sovereign and supra sovereign agency client base, in both public and private markets. C&PS DCM is responsible for leveraging off the Debt Syndicate Team and Liability Management teams’ advice and communicating it to borrowers in the most effective way possible.

    The FI DCM team’s primary role is to provide debt financing solutions and balance sheet strategic and advisory services for Mizuho Financial Group’s global financial institution (banks and non-banks) client base, in both public and private markets.

    FI DCM is responsible for leveraging off the Debt Syndicate and Treasury Strategy and Advisory teams’ advice and communicating it to borrowers in the most effective way possible.

    The Debt Syndicate team’s primary role is to provide pricing, execution strategy and tactics for specific proposed transactions for Mizuho clients. The team also liaises with other Mizuho group syndicate teams, underwrites debt transactions, executes medium term notes and private placements, manages risk positions and communicates with other banks’ syndicate desks to provide seamless execution for clients’ bond issues.

    Debt Syndicate is responsible for liaising between traders, sales, DCM and derivatives’ teams, and engages both investors and issuers in the pursuit of cutting-edge market intelligence to provide appropriate execution advice to clients.

    The Primary Debt Markets team in conjunction with Mizuho’s European Loan Capital Markets department is part of an integrated primary markets platform that provides a cohesive Loan and Bond offering to Mizuho’s clients and valuable insight into Bridge-Bond opportunities.

    To join our team, you must have a passion for financial services and preferably have demonstrated this via your chosen field of study. We also accept applications from candidates with strong academics in any degree discipline who can demonstrate an aptitude for financial services.     Our interns will gain experience in debt capital markets solutions and origination over a 10 week period with a view to being offered a position on the Mizuho 2024 Graduate Programme, commencing September 2024.

    Applicants to the Mizuho 2023 Intern Programme will ideally be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study and be available for permanent employment from September 2024. (Please note we have now filled all places on our Mizuho 2023 Graduate programme).
