This Internship is available at our state-of-the-art facility in Tewkesbury facility within our Commercial Aircraft Group, which focuses on the design and testing of our high-spec Servo valve products.

    Quality Engineering

    The Quality Engineering department works closely with all departments, technical and non-technical, within the business, from design all the way through to aftermarket, and supports the continual improvement of Moog products and processes.

    A Quality Engineering Intern will perform varied technical tasks related to project engineering which is non-routine such as product improvement studies, process improvement studies, and the development of new systems & procedures.

    In terms of Failure Analysis and Corrective Action, the Quality Engineering Intern is responsible for conducting failure analyses by utilising their organisational skill, technical knowledge, and analytical and communication skills. The end result is to find the root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions, making sure that the problem never arises again.

    With regards to Program Support, a Quality Engineering Intern provides technical assistance to Manufacturing, Assembly and testing, Vendors, Customers, and other Engineering disciplines in the resolution of problems. This support typically requires the application of a creative approach to problem-solving.

    This year will be an exciting, once in working life, opportunity to get immersed in all of the quality aspects associated with a site move. Every test rig and every manufacturing machine will be relocated in during the 12-month placement. This will require a significant comparative analysis of the performance to ensure that the products delivered to the customers have not been adversely affected.

    The work will include preparations of communications to the regulatory authorities such as the CAA and EASA, the auditing body, BSI, and all of the major customers. There will be elements of program management, risk assessments, organizing, problem-solving everything required to ensure that product quality and safety are maintained.

    Here are the skills and qualifications that will suit this internship

    • Working towards a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems)
    • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, energetic and self-starter
    • Resourceful
    • Good at self-initiative
    • Flair for practical, hands-on activities as well as analytical and theoretical
    • Creative, problem-solving mentality
    • Willing to embrace and effect change, with an eagerness to make a positive impact

    The selection stages include an in-person interview at our facility in Tewkesbury. All placements are available to penultimate/final year students and the paid internships will start between August and September 2024, for a duration of 12 months
