    Department overview

    The CommandCentral Responder suite represents the very latest in mobile policing solutions for law enforcement agencies in the USA. The suite is deployed as a collection of cloud based microservices integrating to all essential back end systems.

    Multiple mobile client solutions, connecting to the cloud, offer seamless workflows for front line officers, whether they are using a ruggedized PC in their patrol car or a SmartPhone whilst walking the precinct.

    Job description

    This role is primarily hybrid with occasional travel into the Glasgow offices. The role of the System Integration Test Engineer is to work with the agile development teams to verify, test and support the Responder products, across all platforms. Typical activities of the System Integration Test Engineer include:

    • Testing of software solutions/applications to ensure that the integrated suite of products meet the requirements, are consistent in look and feel and are free of defects
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose integration issues across the suite and beyond.
    • Devising, writing, maintaining and execution of Test cases (manual and automated)
    • Being an active participant in all Agile ceremonies
    • Become a subject matter expert for the Suite.
    • Working with our Technical Support Team to provide a centralised Triage service for the review and escalation of Live Responder suite issues. Paid out of hours support may be required periodically.

    Basic requirements

    Must have

    • A formal qualification (Degree) in Computing Science or equivalent numerate qualification
    • Experience of Java, C# or Python

    Desirable

    • Commercial software testing experience
    • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
    • ISTQB certification
    • Knowledge of source code management technologies (e.g. GIT, SubVersion etc.)
    • Knowledge of software development / issue tracking systems (e.g. Jira, MS DevOps etc.)
    • Experience with Smartphone testing (either Android or iOS)
    • Experience with automated test frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Appium, Cypress etc.)
    • Experience with web service technologies (e.g. SOAP, REST, JSON etc)
    • Create/maintain scripts to perform repetitive tasks (Powershell, Bash, etc)

    • A high level of communication skills and technical understanding, to be able to quickly assess the severity of issues.
    • Communication with the product teams to understand quality issues and improve where required
    • A critical eye for detail, that challenges the status quo
    • Capable of delivering critical feedback without damaging relationships
    • To be outspoken when projects are producing sub-standard output
    • Be open to change, both with technologies and methodologies
    • Continually assess workload and prioritise relevant work activities
