Our summer internship schemes are for a period of 2 to 6 months, during which, you will have the opportunity to work within our Built Environment sector. Buildings are central to the overall future development of the built environment to enable the challenge of ever-increasing social need in a time of decreasing resources and essential need to reduce carbon emissions.

In order to deliver on this, we will need to show leadership in technology, in both design and construction process, in collaborative working both across the Group and with our project partners, and in using our ingenuity, both in our own disciplines and in integrated thinking. The Mott MacDonald Built environment community is at the heart of this endeavour, join in and make a difference.

You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so an internship with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

We do not have a formal structure for our internships so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us.

Candidate Specification

To join us for a summer placement you must currently be at university. This placement is for students studying in either of the below degree disciplines:

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering

When you apply you will be asked why you chose to apply, your choice should reflect where you are passionate about starting your future career. You should be able to demonstrate your interest in your chosen sector through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for students with the following characteristics:

  • A methodical approach to problem solving
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
