The reserving team is responsible for setting reserves for a wide range of business and communicating and reporting the outputs of this exercise to management.

Analysts within the team are key to setting up and interpreting reserving results and communicating the insights from this within the team. This role will have a mix of modelling/analysis work and the opportunity to continue to study for the actuarial exams.

What you’ll spend your time doing

Here’s a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:

Modelling

  • Consider the best modelling to use to answer questions
  • Implement improvements to models based on an understanding of how the output will be used
  • Review modelling methodologies and document their assumptions and limitations

Analysis

  • Undertake analysis on data, model inputs and outputs to improve insight
  • Supporting the development and delivery of strategy including exploring priorities and options
  • Direct analysis to optimise output within specific work areas

Communication

  • Communicating all aspects of modelling analysis to a range of stakeholders, with particular emphasis on the links between modelling and the real world risk profile
  • Collaborating with all areas of the Amlin business to ensure robust use of output, developing trusted relationships based on transparency and high quality of analysis
  • Actively contributing to the actuarial team culture of high performance and inclusivity
