Are you interested in the big issues impacting businesses and the economy globally?  At MS Amlin we work with companies to respond to those issues. From climate change to future pandemics, we assess the risks that companies face, and assume that risk through the insurance we provide. Working within the world-renowned Lloyd’s of London marketplace, our work is varied – from protecting cargo ships at risk of piracy to supporting communities in the wake of a hurricane. Our job is to protect our clients from loss – operational, financial and reputational – and it takes time to build that expertise.

We’re looking for curious and articulate people prepared to put in the hard work to learn the ropes in Insurance. Joining our graduate programme will mean just that. You’ll spend time in a number of our businesses, learning from our people and taking part in a dedicated training programme which will include CII qualifications and support to develop the professional skills needed to thrive in your career. We’re not looking for previous insurance experience, nor mathematical wizardry. We believe that great underwriting is an art, not a science, so if you’re someone who thinks you have the curiosity, judgement and patience to master that art, we would love to hear from you.

The programme

This two-year rotational programme will give you breadth and depth of experience across our Underwriting business, and you’ll also spend time in the other functions that underpin how we write risk e.g. Finance. To ensure you develop the correct technical, professional and behavioural skills to be successful in the London Market and beyond, we will provide a range of development opportunities along the way including, but not limited to, professional qualifications and membership (CII), bite-sized digital learning and a buddy system.

What you will bring

We ask our applicants to have a minimum 2:2 in any degree subject. You don’t need any prior insurance or financial services experience. All we ask is that you be curious and keen to learn - we’ll teach you everything else you need to know. Our culture is underpinned by our core values of: Client Understanding, Respecting Each Other; Courage to Challenge, Probity (Doing the Right Thing), One MS Amlin (Collaboration) and Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) – so we’re looking to hire people who can demonstrate those values in their lives to date.

The selection process

After submitting an online application, if you are selected, you will be invited to take a short online psychometric assessment. From here, successful applicants will be invited to take part in video interviews with MS Amlin colleagues. The last stage of the process will be an onsite assessment day (in our offices in the ‘Cheesegrater‘, City of London) followed by a networking activity where candidates will have the opportunity to meet a range of junior and senior colleagues to learn more about our work, and our company. The assessment days will be confirmed shortly and the programme will start in September 2022
