    Job Description

    The qualified individual will have strong interest in the field of computational biology, bioinformatics. They will be responsible for helping us develop target discovery pipeline by applying systems biology methods on omics data. The person in this role will be expected to operate in a collaborative matrix environment, working with experimental and computational scientists at London Discovery Centre and Francis Crick Institute. You will be a part of a diverse and global team tightly integrated within highly collaborative multidisciplinary scientific environment at our London site, interacting with leading academic groups and research centres across the UK/EU.     Duties

    Focus on Results

    • Use bioinformatics tools to analyse transcriptomics data (bulk and scRNA-seq)
    • Implement multi-omics systems biology methods and test their performance

    Communication and Collaboration

    • Ask questions, having a placement is about learning
    • Present results and ideas in writing, and in meetings as verbal updates and presentations

    Technical Specifications

    • You will be looking to complete a 12-month student internship in your third or penultimate year of study of your undergraduate degree, returning to your course at the end of the internship
    • Strong interest in computational biology (bioinformatics)
    • Experience in coding (R, python, other) is desirable but not essential
    • Passion for scientific discovery
