Our UK Medical Affairs team supports pipeline assets from early phase through launch and beyond, engaging with industry leaders and medical experts to share the scientific value of our current and pipeline products.Throughout the programme, you will build strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent strategic planning and organisational skills. Additionally, you will develop a good understanding of Medical Affairs, Good Clinical Practice, the UK regulatory and reimbursement environment as well as the ABPI code of practice.

Job Overview

This will see you take part in one of two 24-Month Graduate schemes, either based in our therapy area medical team or in our Medical Excellence team.

Medical Excellence programme:

This 24-month rotational programme will give you the opportunity to rotate and work across a range of areas within Medical Excellence. You will support the Medical Excellence Heads and directorate members, in delivering the strategic medical plan and work in partnership to deliver operational excellence.

  • Develop your knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs and understanding our products and disease areas
  • Develops an understanding of the Medical Excellence team: Clinical Operations, Devolved Nations, Ethics and Integrity, Innovation, Training and Development, Medical Information and the Irish Medical Affairs team
  • Assist in the appropriate adoption of innovative technologies to deliver medical affairs strategies across the business, including process simplification, improvement, and automation
  • Project management of Medical Excellence initiatives such as the internal and external Medical Affairs portal and the Medical Affairs Learning Plan
  • Develop and deliver patient-focused initiatives, putting patients first and driving our patient engagement strategy
  • Opportunity to take part in ‘stretch’ assignments and projects to enhance personal development goals across the business

Therapy Area Medical Affairs Programme:

This is a 24-month rotational programme will start in the UK Oncology Medical Affairs team, where you will get the opportunity to rotate between therapy areas. You will support the relevant Therapy Area Medical Head and directorate members, in delivering the strategic medical plans and work in partnership to deliver operational excellence.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and collaborating on key activities across the therapy area pipeline clinical development pathway to support the delivery of the strategic medica plan.
  • Collaborating with UK Clinical Trials Organisation to identify research sites in relation to our pipeline.
  • Supporting the process of UK scientific leaders mapping and identification to enable continuous engagement and input.
  • Developing partnerships with market access, regulatory and development colleagues to appropriately and rapidly gain access for patients to our medicines e.g. Health Technology Appraisals, patient access schemes, compassionate use programmes.
  • Contribute on the data gap analysis for the therapy area with the cross functional team to identify and execute key evidence generation activities.

Requirements

  • Studying towards a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a medicine, life sciences, pharmacy discipline, or are a PhD Scientist, or registered Pharmacist.
  • Project management experience with examples of delivering initiatives from start to finish with clear goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates planning, analytical and organisational skills
