Job description
Our support functions deliver services and makes recommendations about ways to enhance our workplace and the experience of working at our organisation. Our functions extend beyond Medical Affairs to include External Affairs, Marketing and Procurement.
The Digital Excellence, Medical Innovation & Information team brings together our scientific and business acumen into our overall strategic and tactical decision making. We use state-of-the-art platforms and business models for analysis, planning, reporting and digital evaluation. This allows the organisation to continue advancing medical innovation and improve lives.
Our 24 Month Graduate scheme encompassing two 12-month rotations in the Medical Affairs- Innovation team (London/remote) and Global Medical Operations USA team (UK/Remote)
You will begin your journey in Innovation team within the Medical Excellence Department where you will be supporting in a variety of projects cross collaborating with Medical Information, pipeline, other therapy areas and medical education/digital.
Duties & responsibilities
- Build an understanding of the UK Medical Affairs organisation
- Assist in the appropriate adoption of innovative technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence algorithms, machine learning systems, digital communication and social medial based education) and processes (e.g. automation of GCP or PV reporting) to deliver medical affairs strategies in the UK team.
- Potential additional projects to support other associated groups within Medical Excellence including the project management of the UK Medical Affairs portal.
Your second rotation will be working with the Innovation, Emerging Projects and Web Presence team, which is a function within the Global Medical Operations organisation. Medical Operations supports all functions within Global Medical and Scientific Affairs (GMSA) across a range of disciplines including Process & Systems, Businesses Intelligence, Knowledge Management, Standards Alignment and more. While the primary focus of this rotation will be supporting projects for the Innovation team, you will have opportunities to collaborate with all functions within Medical Operations.
Note: This rotation is based in the UK with some time spent abroad. Please note that the working hours are aligned to the UK but may require you to work outside these to account for the US time zone.
Duties & responsibilities
- Assist in the appropriate adoption of innovative technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence algorithms, machine learning systems, digital communication)
- Be an active participant in problem solving, brainstorming and creative ideation.
- Manage timelines/track deliverables, facilitate meetings, and overall project management.
- Assist with the upkeep and enhancement of SharePoint Online site pages and collections.
- Potential additional projects to support other associated groups within Medical Operations in support of GMSA.
Technical requirements
- Studying towards a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a medicine, life sciences, pharmacy discipline. Other qualifications may be considered such as Health Economics or Digital Health technology either predicted or gained within the last two years
- Studied one or more of the following A-Level subjects; Science, Economics and Business
- Project management experience with examples of delivering initiatives from start to finish with clear goals and objectives
- Experience of software architecture including development and deployment.
- Experience in a wide range of SLDC methodologies including waterfall, incremental, Agile & DevOps
- Demonstration of the ability to work with pharmaceutical service providers e.g. digital health/ unicorn/start up agencies.
- Demonstrates planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrates numeric, IT and analytical skills

Throughout the 24 month scheme you will receive guidance and mentoring to not only help you through your current role, but also to prepare you for applications to permanent roles within the organisation, with the aim that you will continue your career journey with our company.
