    The role

    Murphy are hiring Graduate Project Managers to work closely with our site teams. This is an exciting opportunity for graduates to join an established Contractor. Finish university and start your career for real, as you join the Murphy Graduate programme at one of our offices or sites.

We are committed to the development of our Project Managers and our graduate programme is closely aligned with the Association for Project Management.

    Duties

    • Assist with planning and delivering all work on a small/medium sized site or a few smaller sites, ensuring work is completed on time and to the agreed standard.
    • Assist with the management of project teams during the construction and installation phase of the project.
    • Assist with the co-ordination of the project resource plan.
    • Monitor progress periodically against the project plan.
    • Assist with ensuring risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required.
    • Assist with the Project Manager with the overall performance management of subcontractors.
    • Supports the Project Manager with third party, client and stakeholder management.
    • Assist with providing periodic updates to clients on project/contract progress, typically operational in nature.
    • Assist the Project Manager to resolve any technical issues outside of the scope of works.
    • Assist the Project Manager and Site Manager to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill-sets, for the projected workload.
    • Assist with ensuring that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation.
    • Supports the Project Manager to ensure that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures.
    • Ensure regular input from the Construction / Project Manager is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues.
    • Visible safety leadership across the project to support the project manager and the Murphy Never Harm value

    What do we look for?

    • Project Management or civil engineering experience (desirable)
    • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

    Entry requirements

    • Construction Management or Engineering related degree.

    Additional requirements

    • Due to the nature of our work, we require you to have a full clean driving licence.
    • Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable. Please note that unfortunately, we do not provide sponsorship.

    Location

    As a Construction and Civil Engineering company we have projects, big and small, based across the UK and Ireland.

    There is the opportunity for you to rotate around our projects, which depends on business requirements and project sizes. Rotating to different projects will enable you to maximise your learning and exposure to your field of study. This position is initially based in London.
