The Role
We are looking a second-year student to join our Logistics Operations team for a 12-month period from September 2023. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be providing an excellent customer experience for all internal and external customers within agreed objectives and service level agreements (SLA’s). You'll role model our core behaviours and be an advocate for our culture.
Flexible Shifts varying between 6am-2pm and 8am-4pm Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- To understand the Operational processes of all departments within Logistics Operations at Shaw and Hadfield sites.
- To learn about the departmental budgets, manpower planning and performance management for each area and actively review performance and quality, providing cost analysis and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- To understand the relevant MI for each department; responding to direction to investigate trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- To understand all production, compliance targets and SLA’s and how to attain the most cost-effective use of resource and services. Also, to understand how to respond to adjustments in production plans, assign resource accordingly and identify opportunities for improvement.
- To understand all Health & Safety (including all current COVID) measures and housekeeping requirements, ensuring a safe and clean environment for all colleagues and visitors on the Logistics sites.
- To understand all colleague management policies and procedures, including the functions of My People Portal and the ER tracker.
- To be flexible with the shifts and sites you are required to work to support business needs; this includes being flexible with your start and finish times in order to plan the day and provide accurate details for handovers for colleagues. There may be a need to support business with flexibility of overtime when required.
- To lead, support, motivate, train, develop and performance manage the Logistics Operational colleagues for your department and shift to ensure Logistics Operational objectives are met through effective management.
- Any other duties required by the line manager that are appropriate with the post, grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for current students studying a relevant degree within Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations or Business Management who can commit to a full-time placement of 12 months. You’ll be highly analytical, able to identify key areas for improvement by using your financial acumen. You are a curious individual who will seek out opportunities to understand how the wider business works and a great team player with good communication skills. We’re also looking for someone who can connect easily with people and develop strong relationships.
