Get ahead of the pack: on our 12-week Summer Internship, consolidate the skills you’ve been building at university with valuable on-the-job training, in an environment that fosters expression and encourages personal contribution.

We’re looking for driven individuals keen to explore what our industry can offer. You’ll be closely supported by your manager throughout your programme. You’ll receive a competitive salary and holiday allowance and, most importantly you will have the chance to land a place on our Graduate Programme if you meet your targets. Each placement offers a unique insight into a different area at National Grid – giving you the chance to get a taste for how you could kickstart your career here.

The Role

If defending IT infrastructure and networks, hacking sites on behalf of National Grid or combating cyber-crimes appeals, then starting a career in cyber security is for you.

During the 12-week summer internship you will be working in a varied environment where no two days are the same, at the heart of a team protecting National Grid’s assets. You’ll develop your capabilities so that you can join this department who make sure all our people, premises and systems stay safe and secure. As part of the team you could be helping manage the risk of cyber threats which continually evolve and increase in sophistication and persistence, to protect our vital infrastructure.

Ready to work on key projects with people across our business. These are great qualities for you who have a genuine interest in making an impact on the world of energy. Not only that you'll be a well-rounded individual who can balance their academic skills with real enthusiasm and commitment. You'll be in your penultimate year of study and excited by the future opportunities this internship could bring you.

As one of our Undergraduates, you’ll have the chance to take command over your career and put into practice the skills you’ve been shaping at university whilst getting an insight into what being part of a dynamic, inspiring team is like at National Grid. You’ll need to be curious and proactive. Ask questions. Be interested. Along with being on track to receive a 2.1 Degree classification in one of the following disciplines:

  • Cyber Security related degree (preferred)

OR

  • Computing related degree (acceptable)
