    Get hands-on experience of impressive civil engineering and infrastructure projects that will help build the roads of tomorrow.

    What you will be doing

    If you’re an aspiring civil engineer, our 9-week summer internship allows you to get inside a variety of exciting projects in our Safety, Engineering and Standards directorate.

    Depending on your placement, you’ll learn about our civils work in areas such as Asset Management, Roads Development and Project Management. You’ll be coached and mentored by experienced civil engineers, to help you develop your own technical skills and experience. This is a great opportunity to get a head start in your professional development towards chartership once you graduate!

    You’ll also gain valuable experience whilst supporting key infrastructure projects that deliver the best solutions to connect the country.

    You’ll also need to meet these essential entry requirements:

    • Currently studying in your penultimate year of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering which must be accredited as a base for C.Eng (MICE or IStructE).

    It is key to know all offers of internships are subject to satisfactory completion of our pre-employment checks. This includes a Right to Work check, reference check and a DBS criminal record check.
