What youll be doing
On our three-year Finance graduate programme, you’ll explore a variety of areas through a series of placements across our specialist teams.
You’ll gain a breadth of valuable experience whilst supporting the key financial services that make a real difference to our organisation.
You’ll also have opportunity to gain professional body chartership by completing accredited accountancy training through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). We’ll give you additional time for study and all the support you need to achieve your development goals.
When you successfully complete the programme, you’ll be offered an opportunity of promotion and continue to support key services and important decisions at National Highways.

What youll need to succeed
If you have the passion to succeed that we see in our graduates every day, you’ll be a great match for our programme. You’ll have:
- An enthusiastic, collaborative approach to working with others

- Excellent co-ordination skills
- The ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
- A focus on quality and integrity in everything you do
You’ll also need to meet these essential qualification requirements:
- An undergraduate (e.g. BA, BSc) degree at 2:1 or above (in any subject), plus
- A minimum of a Grade C / Grade 4 in Mathematics and English Language at GCSE
It is key to know all offers to onto our graduate programmes are subject to satisfactory completion of our pre-employment checks. This includes a Right to Work check, reference check and a DBS criminal record check.

Our finance directorate is responsible for managing the company's £4 billion a year finances, overall governance, assurance and risk management, managing the company's large and dispersed estate, processing damages claims and the operation of the Dart Charge facility. A lot of what we do is like oil in the organisational machinery. We make the business work more smoothly and we help everyone to do their jobs better.
