What youll be doing
If you’re interested in a career in HR, our 9-week summer internship gives you the opportunity to explore a large HR function in an evolving organisation.
As part of our Shared Services team, you’ll be exposed to a range of projects, working alongside HR professionals to deliver continuous improvement and guide our diverse workforce to be the best they can be.
You’ll gain valuable experience whilst supporting the key people services that help make National Highways a great place to work!
This is an ideal placement for anyone studying business, management or HR-related subjects. However, we’re happy to consider you whatever your degree subject if you can demonstrate a keen interest in HR.

What youll need to succeed
If you have the passion to succeed that we see in our interns every day, you’ll be a great match. You’ll have:
- An enthusiastic, collaborative approach to working with others
- The ability to communicate in different formats with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent co-ordination skills
- The ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
- A focus on quality and integrity in everything you do
You’ll also need to meet these essential entry requirements:
- Currently studying in your second year of an undergraduate degree
- Your degree is in a HR-related subject, or you are able to demonstrate a keen interest in HR
It is key to know all offers of internships are subject to satisfactory completion of our pre-employment checks. This includes a Right to Work check, reference check and a DBS criminal record check.
