NPL is undergoing a Digital Transformation programme to become a world-leading Digital NMI. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about technology and eager to support an organisation through change. This role will focus on delivering new technology solutions into the laboratory, working closely with scientists at the workbench.
As a Junior Technical Delivery Manager, you will play a key role within the Technology Delivery team (CIO organisation), helping to coordinate IT projects and support the successful implementation of new digital solutions. You will work collaboratively across NPL in a matrix environment, engaging with a variety of teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in IT project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and technology integration within a scientific environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of IT system integration projects as part of the Digital Modernisation programme.
- Act as a key contact for project teams and IT development stakeholders.
- Assist in tracking project deliverables, ensuring they meet time, cost, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate virtual IT project teams to facilitate technology implementation.
- Work with software vendors and implementation partners to ensure adherence to agreed specifications.
- Help prepare business cases and support funding requests through governance processes.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Support the transition of new IT solutions into operational support frameworks.
- Assist in contract discussions with third-party vendors where required.
- Contribute to technology discovery activities to explore future capabilities.
Skills & experience
- Some experience in IT project delivery, system integration, or technical coordination.
- Basic knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and software development processes.
- Experience working with or coordinating third-party vendors is a plus.
- Strong organisational skills with an ability to manage tasks and priorities effectively.
- Good stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- An interest in technology and a willingness to learn and grow within a digital transformation environment.
