Overall purpose of the role

Business scope - GFO teams are responsible for managing all of the financing operations on behalf of the various business lines of the CIB. The Intern will learn the processes and products of the operational functionalities of the London DCPM/Middle Office team, and thereby assist with the daily duties performed (see below general department purpose).

The mission of the Deal Closing and Portfolio Monitoring department is, but is not limited to:

  • Control transactions to ensure that they are fully compliant with the authorizations given and requirements made by the Credit Committee, at both structuring and implementation stages.
  • Assess and manage operational risks — in liaison with the Risk Department
  • Carry out transaction monitoring until maturity
  • Provide support and expertise to the Front Office at all stages during the life of a transaction, as well as provide the Back Office with thoroughly documented instructions
  • Monitor that all regulatory and compliance obligations have been carried out within their designated timeframe.
  • Ensure day-to-day support is given across all business lines — both for new and existing credit facilities. The role will require the establishment of effective partnerships with all Front Offices as a key stakeholder as well as teams in several areas of the bank in different capacities (Risk, Finance, BO etc.).

Main responsibilities of the role

Under daily supervision of the Middle Office Expert Leader the primary responsibilities will include, but not limited to:-

  • Ensuring that all day-to-day activities are known/discussed and allocated in line with departmental procedures/processes and systems used (query log/DCPM email mailbox).
  • Ensuring that all post-closing actions are duly executed/recorded in the banks systems (including departmental Middle Office Workbook) – including completion of all associated check sheets 
  • Covenants – assist with the process to ensure that all covenants are duly input, monitored and updated in all systems (LoanIQ/Electronic customer file etc.). 
  • Waivers / consents – assist with the process to ensure that all waivers/consents are duly handled and recorded in all relevant systems with updated booking memo’s produced (for updates required in LoanIQ). 
  • Departmental reporting – assist with the process oft he production and distribution of all departmental reporting (i.e. covenant, KYC, activity, EOM LoanIQ exposures, sell down and waivers) for all business lines 
  • Deal security packages are duly analyzed with any collaterals duly booked in the banks systems with all the associated reviews and follow up monitoring (scheduled activity plus other collateral reports). 
  • Providing support for our Agency business activities. 

Your skills

  • Very strong PC skills in Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Intermediate / high level excel / Power BI would be advantageous.
  • Ability to use web-based technology effectively.
  • Proactive with the ability to deliver value-added support to business partners in a dependable, timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to accept new assignments and challenges in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • Good communication and relationship/partnership-building skills both with team members as well as other business partners. Ability to interact confidently with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a control and risk discipline mindset, takes ownership and is accountable for area of responsibility.
