    Programme Essentials 

    To join one of our 12-month Internships you will be:

    • Currently be studying at University and applying for a Placement year in your 2nd or final year or graduating in Summer 2024 
    • Looking for work experience after completing A-Levels or equivalent course or an Apprenticeship 
    • Eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship from Monday 1st July 2024- Friday 18th July 2025

    What will I be doing? 

    As the Technical Operations Intern, you will work closely with the Studio Operations team in the broadcast of CNBC’s daily business and financial news programs and recordings. You will support the Technical Operators and Studio Directors to deliver 4 hours of live TV News programming and any pre-recorded content that is produced in the London Studio each day. This internship position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in a fast-paced, exciting live news environment in a multi-skilled TV Gallery role.  

    What will I learn from this opportunity? 

    Sound Operation: 

    • Mixing and monitoring studio sound during live TV transmission  
    • Prepare microphone allocation, ensure that connections to Video Tape (VT) sources, external guest sources and music sources are in place 
    • Communicate with the Master Control Room (TV Transmission team) on a regular basis when establishing any fixed camera/satellite links and correcting satellite guest’s camera framing Video Tape & Camera  

    Operations: 

    • Playing multiple program Video Tape (VT) material using our Grass Valley playout system, Stratus Rundown 
    • Opportunity to learn about operating studio cameras in a live news environment TV Studio Floor Management: 
    • Greeting and preparing high-profile guests to goon-air 
    • Mic up studio guests  
    • Help to manage the studio environment, ensuring guests are in the right place on time 
    • Awareness of basic health and safety measures with the ability to spot and fix potential issues/escalate if necessary  
    • First port of call to assist TV Presenters and help to fix issues while on-air Lighting  
    • Assist with changing and resetting studio lights during production as directed 

     General:  

    • Basic maintenance and housekeeping of studio equipment as required  
    • Develop an excellent awareness of the daily show format • Help to maintain smooth & calm operations in the studio

    What do I need to bring to the role? 

    1. Passion for live TV Production 
    2.  Strong Interest in TV broadcast News and live TV studio environments  
    3.  Ability to handle the pressure of live TV broadcasts  
    4. Proactive attitude, willingness to learn and a team player who can keep calm in a live TV environment 
    5. Willingness to work early shifts (5am call time, car service available for early shifts) 6
    6. Can Multi-task (operating of multiple systems and equipment)
