The Sun is Britain’s largest newspaper which launched in 1969 with the slogan ‘forward with the people’, because that is what we believe in. We are a group of talented, dedicated, and creative people with a real passion for delivering real stories to our ever-growing audiences. Our newspapers and digital products include some of the most powerful storytelling, reaching over 30 million people each month. The Sun is more than a newspaper. It is an entertainer, a cultural reference point, and a finger on the pulse.

    Your Team

You’ll be joining the Analytics team to help maximise our relationship with the 30m+ monthly readers of The Sun, contributing to continued annual growth. We are at the forefront of innovative approaches to both data and customer experience, evidenced by the team recently winning 4 ‘best use of data’ awards, living up to our vision of driving the business through data.

    Your Role

You will add value by increasing our understanding of customer behaviour, product and content performance. You will work closely with teams including the Newsrooms, Product Development, Marketing, User Experience and Technology to provide innovative ideas and actionable insights to improve decision making, content commissioning and ultimately engagement and upsell.

    Day to day you will:

    • Deliver analysis to marketing stakeholders, driving business value through the adoption of recommendations.
    • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and compelling visualisations of business performance, translating data clearly to communicate insights to our stakeholders.
    • Unlock insights from digital marketing performance data to deliver ROI, as well as customer engagement data through segmentation and behavioural indicators.
    • Make recommendations which drive loyalty and improve retention to ensure the business is making data-led decisions on the drivers of churn.

    What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who thrives in driving business value and action from your analysis, contributing to business meetings and capturing requirements to confidently present clear and compelling stories with recommendations. Also:

    • Great communicator- proactively, clearly and regularly to influence a variety of stakeholders, being unafraid to stand up for your work and voice your opinions, keeping stakeholders updated on progress.
    • Curiosity to learn more and creatively interrogate data, working with team leads to prioritise and then manage your own time to meet committed deadlines.
    • You spot opportunities to automate analytics tasks, allowing you to focus on tackling and breaking down the more complex business problems.
    • Great SQL knowledge to manipulate and process large data sets to enable concise reporting and analysis (through data warehouses like GBQ/AWS).
    • Experience visualising data in a meaningful and actionable way (using tools like Tableau/Looker/Data Studio), pioneering new techniques.
    • Good understanding of digital audience measurement, journey analysis and A/B testing methods, customer data and how to utilise them all together (using tools like Google/Adobe Analytics, Optimizely).

    What’s in it for you?

    • You’ll work with huge, passionate brands, getting the chance to interrogate and interpret big data sets (including multiple millions of rows of web interaction data collected daily).
    • Working within a large analytics team; learning off of and collaborating with 20+ analysts with varying backgrounds, experience and skills.
    • Interact with diverse departments ranging from creative content producers, technical specialists to leading marketeers.
    • We invest in our talent, supporting technical and soft skill development including access to LinkedIn learning
    • Competitive salary package and benefits (full list available upon request).

If you think you have what it takes but don’t tick every requirement on the list, please do apply. We recognise that considering someone’s potential as well as their experience is a great way to hire. We want to hear from people who have a passion to learn and develop.
