Joining us on our Summer Academy Programme will see you get a taste of what it’s like to work as a consultant! You’ll visit our office in Oxfordshire, and spend four weeks learning from Newtons and external trainers.
You’ll learn and apply our core methodology, discovering what it means to be a consultant at Newton and how this looks in practice. You don’t have to have any experience to apply!
We'd like for you to gain a better understanding of what a career in consulting involves and hope that you'll then join the Newton team. So, if you're successful, you'll be offered a Graduate Consultant role with us once you graduate from university.
What we’ll offer to you
This programme will take place from July to August 2024, and we are offering a pro rata salary of £21,000 with all travel and accommodation expenses covered by Newton.
Over the four weeks, you’ll learn and apply our core methodology, learning about what it means to be a consultant at Newton and what this looks like in practice. During your first two weeks, you’ll be exposed to training that covers how our consultants solve some of the toughest and most challenging problems in the business world. We’ll host training sessions that centre on professional skills that are applicable to any sector and industry.
Following your two weeks of formative training, you’ll have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned to a real consultancy project. At Newton, we have a strong feedback culture, meaning you’ll be sure to take away a clear understanding of where your personal strengths lie, and key lessons you’ll be able to apply to your future career.
What we will be looking for in you
The Summer Academy is an introduction to consulting so no prior experience is needed, however we're looking to see in you:
- Strong analytical and conceptual capabilities, but you don't need to be an engineer or mathematician
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Real self-awareness and emotional intelligence
- The ability to draw meaningful insights from an ocean of information
- Self-motivation and an eagerness to take on early responsibility
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A highly flexible and adaptable approach
The skills and attributes outlined in this overview above are no means exhaustive and we welcome candidates who can bring different relevant experiences to the role.
What’s next?
The first stage to apply will involve a short application form that doesn’t require the addition of a CV or cover letter! Next, you’ll complete a numerical test followed by a video interview. Following this, you’ll attend a virtual Selection Day with other candidates. If you’re successful at Selection Day, we will make you an offer to join us for a summer internship!
