We are looking to speak with a number of passionate Finance graduates to join us on a permanent basis to start in August 2023.
As a Credit & Risk Trainee, you will demonstrate a passion for assessing risks through data and advising stakeholders on results and potential strategies. You will have the ability to perform in a highly dynamic and fast changing environment. You will have a desire to succeed and will have demonstrated your aptitude through previous experiences in work, life or academic studies.
The role
- Provide support to various Credit & Risk Departments on a rotational basis which may include Credit Risk, Fraud Prevention, Collections Strategy and Debt Management.
- Manage the production of monthly / weekly management reports
- Support in the development and implementation of appropriate value-based risk policies, strategies and controls
- Support in the management and maintenance of Credit & Risk systems
- Liaise with others stakeholders in the business regarding credit risk related queries
- Assist Credit & Risk teams within the various areas to complete both regular and project based analysis
- Analyse the performance of current credit strategies, using internal and external data such as the credit reference agencies and fraud databases
- Assisting the commercial finance teams and marketing teams, providing ad-hoc support in the analysis of new propositions or customer strategies impacting our consumer lending portfolio.
- Learn coding languages (SQL, SAS, R, Python) to accurately extract information from the database, manipulate data and use various tools to analyse and present recommendations (including PowerBI, PowerPoint/Slides).
- Learn tools and techniques to analyse Credit & Risk data so that you can create insightful summaries for presentation, using multiple techniques for the visual display of information
- Input into the process of forecasting the NEXT P&L to enable calculation of forecasted profit and understand profit drivers
- Be part of weekly, monthly forums related to Credit & Risk performance
- Report on KPI’s across the business
About you
- Excellent level of education ideally a 1st or 2:1 Degree in Finance or similar
- Able to communicate with a wide range of colleagues, clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, across in-person and virtual
- Ability to follow instructions and organise yourself to complete tasks fully and on time
- Good time management, administration and organisation skills
- An eye for detail and the drive to get under the skin of complex business challenges, joining the dots across multiple sources of insight
- High level of literacy and ability to present information in a user friendly and logical format
- Highly numerate, analytical thinker. Able to identify opportunities and drive insight and appropriate action from data.
- Exposure or desire to learn coding packages such as SQL, SAS, R, Python
- To have a flexible approach to the role and be willing to carry out a wide variety of tasks
- Enjoy working effectively with a wide variety of people in a team environment
- Self motivated to develop professionally and seek out training opportunities
