    The role

    We are recruiting for actuarial trainees into our Financial Actuarial and Investments team based in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The Finance Actuarial team includes a range of actuarial and technical staff working to ensure the financial soundness of the NFU Mutual’s business across Financial Services and General Insurance. We offer a very competitive study package to support our actuarial trainees through the exams to qualify as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, a highly respected qualification that gives good career prospects.     To assist in the preparation and interpretation of complex data and models as part of actuarial investigations.

    Job specification

    Collect, check and analyse data to allow it to be used in actuarial calculations. Design and validate actuarial models and make recommendations to inform business decision making.  Design, plan and deliver effective communication of the output from actuarial models in a manner that conveys the key risks and rewards involved. Understand and demonstrate the use and development of the process, theory and software underlying actuarial techniques. Assist in the delivery of short term / one-off projects and activities as required by, and to the standards and outcomes agreed with, the relevant Line or Project Manager. Demonstrate sound judgement through the application of your business knowledge to make recommendations and promote the continuous improvement of actuarial systems and processes.  Build, internal and external relationships with stakeholders and committees to ensure effective delivery of the Group’s business objectives

    Qualifications

    At least 3 A-levels at grade B or above (including mathematics) An honours degree (2:1 or above) in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or another degree with significant mathematical content if combined with an A or A* at maths A level
