We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Project Designer to step into the kitchen industry and join the CIE team based in Battersea, London.

This role will be based within the office full time but with occasional travel to active sites.

    What you’ll be doing

This is a great opportunity to learn the Project Designer role specifically for the kitchen and bedroom contract market working in the Prime Residential sector within central London. As part of your learning curve, you will have exposure to some of London’s most prestigious developments who expect the highest level of quality and professionalism. As a trainee Project Designer, you will learn all aspects of how any opportunity progresses from enquiry stage through kitchen design, tender and procurement then into the final installation phase.

Any enquiry or tender is time consuming and requires methodical attention to detail. You will have responsibility for all document control and make sure contractor systems are kept up to date with the relevant information throughout a project, assisting our existing design team and learning on the job.

In addition, the first point of contact with any potential client is critical. We require a ‘Front of House’ individual that can be that first point of contract for our clients coming into the office, giving excellent service, and providing information and samples when required. You’ll make the office a welcoming environment and run the office making sure the smaller details are on point for both clients and the team.

How you qualify for the role

You need to be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills. Attention to detail and being able to listen attentively and understand a client’s needs is key. You’ll be self-motivated but able to work in a team. You will need to be comfortable in communicating at all structure levels and be client focussed.

You’ll have a positive and flexible can-do attitude, being proactive and the ability to work alone, you’ll use your initiative but also be able to take direction and be keen to progress.

A passion for design and a knowledge of kitchen design and materials is preferred, you need to have strong general IT skills, the ability to work seamlessly with Microsoft packages and adapt to varying contractor software platforms for the uploading of documentation (you are not expected to know these from the start). It is beneficial to your design training if you have previously used AutoCad and understand contractor site and specification drawings, but not essential.

    What you’ll get in return

You’ll discover an informal and relaxed working environment, excellent career and development opportunities and a competitive salary. Benefits also include pension, life assurance, 29 days holidays (including bank holidays), discounts with various retailers and a generous colleague discount on our kitchen products.
