We are looking for a Traffic Signals and Signing Engineer to join the Traffic Engineering team in the Network Strategy Group within the Highways and Transportation service unit.
Our service
The core function of our Traffic Engineering team is to deliver capital funded local safety schemes to reduce the number and severity of casualties arising from road collisions, to undertake road safety audits on highway improvements and carry out fatal collision inspections and reports. We also produce and update traffic management and road safety engineering policy, improve the efficiency of traffic signal installations in North Yorkshire by addressing congestion and safety issues at problem locations, maintain and improve the condition of existing traffic signals installations and monitor performance of the traffic signals maintenance contractor and provide parking expertise and lead on the delivery of high-profile parking projects.
The role
As our Traffic Signals and Signing Engineer you will be involved in the design, consultation, operation and implementation of all traffic signal installations and associated systems. You will provide advice on traffic signal issues and assist the Team Leader with the management of the traffic signals maintenance contractor by monitoring performance and fault reporting. You may participate in Road Safety Audits. You may also prepare traffic sign designs and advise on traffic sign issues.
What you will bring
Entry and mid-levels:
- Working knowledge of current guidance and legislation relating to Traffic Signals and traffic signing.
- Experience in Traffic Signal and Traffic Management schemes
- Traffic Signal maintenance/fault reporting
- Experience of AutoCAD and other ICT skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Customer care skills.
- ICT skills including the use of a number of different software packages, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work as a member of a technical team
