    We have an exciting new opportunity to work in Emergency Planning and Business Continuity within Northumbrian Water.  You will be part of a small team and play a key role in planning for emergencies, maintaining plans and procedures, and carrying out emergency exercises and ensuring the business meets it statutory and legal responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004).

    As part of the team you will be responsible for ensuring a continued state of preparedness for the business to respond to any major or significant incident, ensuring measures are in place to maintain continuity of its core business functions where practical. You will be involved in the development of and implementation of exercises as well as participation in real live incidents and events.

    The role

    The role involves working in close partnership with multi-agency partners within the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), to provide an effective multi-agency response to any situation, providing a coordination function on a number of Local Resilience Forum working groups and attending meetings as required. You will have the ability to establish and manage effective working relationships with all levels and disciplines of staff within the business, as well as our resilience partners.

    You will also be responsible for liaison across the business in the development of departmental business continuity plans and submission documents and action plans relating to the Security & Emergency Measures Directive annual audit process.
