    The Team

    The Newcastle Office is a key aspect of Norton Rose Fulbright’s strategy and focuses on delivering business and legal services to our global network in a more innovative and efficient way. We are recruiting for a Marketing & Business Development Assistant within the Newcastle Office.

    The Marketing & Business Development Assistant will be joining the EMEA MBD Services team (EMS), which is integral to the wider MBD function across Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA). The team provides high quality support in a broad range of areas, manages efficient and robust processes and maintains the quality of our marketing and business development content and data. The team also liaise directly with lawyers and other business services teams.

    The role

    This role operates in a busy MBD team, which supports the wider Marketing & Business Development function in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, driving and supporting marketing activities in the areas of email marketing, bids and credentials, internal communications, CRM database maintenance, client feedback processing and maintaining our intranet and external website.

    The role will involve direct liaison with lawyers and business services teams and you will report into the Newcastle MBD Team Lead. Comprehensive training will be provided but some experience in a professional environment, digital publishing and using a content management system (CMS) will be an advantage. Above all, motivation to learn, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to develop a career in marketing and business development are essential.

    Responsibilities

    • Assisting and implementing MBD activity for the practices and sectors.
    • Assisting with the creation of digital, email marketing and social media requests.
    • Working directly with the relevant Marketing and Business Development team to agree approach, process and delivery of work.
    • Completing wrap up processes to ensure content is added to or updated in our central management systems.
    • Drafting and editing copy in commercially appropriate language, maintaining at all times a high level of attention to detail.
    • Consistently meeting both internal and external deadlines.
    • Acting as a key point of contact and ambassador for the team with the wider business, MBD and other key stakeholders.
    • Establishing a close and effective relationship with colleagues and teams across all EMEA offices the business.

    Work-Streams

    Email marketing:

    • Creating and monitoring a wide variety of email marketing campaigns from submitted requests within agreed timeframes.
    • Replicating well-written copy that is free from mistakes editing layouts and adding in images where required
    • Reporting on the performance of each campaign
    • Creating and compiling email marketing lists from customer relationship management system using pre-defined search criteria submitted on the request form
    • Review and maintain data records and update details where required
    • Support the email marketing process by researching and updating ‘bounced’ contacts

    Digital:

    • Day-to-day content management - this will include creating new pages, publishing and amending existing content across our social media channels
    • Respond to requests from the business in a timely and efficient manner
    • Assist the marketing team as required across the campaign cycle

    Communications:

    • Assisting with the management of social media activities for the EMEA region, including:
    • Creation of imagery and social media posts.
    • Scheduling posts to our corporate social media channels to ensure high levels of engagement.
    • Working on internal communication products and initiatives:
    • Working with the wider team to create internal digital marketing collateral
    • Supporting global engagement initiatives
    • Managing and publishing content across our internal communication channels including our intranet and plasma screens
    • Daily management of an online workflow tool.

    CRM database:

    • Maintenance of the CRM system
    • Producing ad hoc reports

    Intranet:

    • Dealing with first-line Athena enquiries across the EMEA region (content and technical)
    • Supporting internal communications teams in publishing content
    • Maintaining tight quality control on content and design, based on standards and brand guidelines
    • Promoting good practice and user experience
    • Communicating with the content editor community on changes, improvements, fixes and ‘how-to’ updates
    • Identifying and/or escalating issues and keeping relevant people informed

    Proposals:

    • Assist to produce first drafts of our proposals, working with multiple stakeholders to produce commercial, concise and compelling pitches against strict deadlines.
    • Collate relevant CV’s and credentials to support bids.

    Directory submissions:

    • Create first draft submissions demonstrating our strength in key legal areas to two leading legal directories.
    • Working with multiple stakeholders to profile our work in a way that emphasises its commercial value and strategic significance to our clients.

    Skills and Experience Required

    • A graduate degree is desirable but not essential
    • Experience of working in a fast paced professional environment preferred
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • High level of attention to detail and problem solver
    • Strong client focus and ability to demonstrate commitment to outstanding service delivery
    • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work either autonomously, co-operatively or with direction, to ensure deadlines are met
    • Proven planning skills and the ability to manage own workload and prioritise workloads effectively
    • Ability to adapt to changing work environments
    • Commitment to continuous improvement in work processes; ability to identify areas in need of improvement and suggest new methods where appropriate
    • Strong stakeholder management skills and interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people at all levels
    • Flexible approach to working hours and tasks assigned
    • Excellent personal presentation, articulate and professional
    • Positive, committed and prepared to use initiative and learn
    • Sound working knowledge of MS Office products
