    Working closely with trading, risk, and origination colleagues to help Octopus navigate the energy transition. We believe in applying technology efficiently to help decarbonise the grid. We’ve done this through transparent tariffs, turn-down projects or clever EV charging. Also, we have a growing renewable and battery portfolio!

    We are looking for an energy trader to help with our activities in the UK. In this role you will work on contributing to execution of our hedging and trading strategies for our demand, renewable assets and flexibility portfolios. You will help us to source renewable energy certificates for all our customers.

    What youll do

    • Optimising trading for Octopus’ portfolio, including power and gas supply, PPAs, flexibility assets and renewable certificates
    • Ensure trading is executed within agreed risk limits
    • Monitor fundamental and technical developments in wholesale markets
    • Ensure trades are booked, nominated and scheduled accurately
    • Contribute analysis to support Octopus’ hedging strategies, pricing and risk premia
    • Help and educate across the team/organisation

    What youll need

    • Experience in the UK/European Power and Gas markets with a focus on trading and risk management
    • Quantitative degree with strong statistical/mathematical skills
    • Strong python skills and experience with the scientific stack
    • Strong problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment
    • Good communication skills
    • Knowledge of renewable certificates is beneficial
