What you'll do
- Work on designing and developing brand new products related to the electrification of heat.
- Work in the state of the art Octopus Energy Research & Development Centre.
- Join an established team of Mechanical and Control Engineers.
- Conceive, design, and implement mechanical designs for various R&D projects
What you'll need
- An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or any equivalent, and at least one year’s industrial experience.
- A good understanding of core concepts from thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, such as Solidworks, Creo, etc.
- The ability to produce comprehensive technical drawings and documentation, such as BoMs.
- A good understanding of different manufacturing techniques.
- An understanding of core concepts from material science, including material selection techniques.
- Experience with FEA and/or CFD.
- The ability to assess mechanical designs in terms of criteria such as stress, fatigue, vibration, etc.
- An understanding of design principles such as DFMA
It would be great if you had
- An appreciation of designing systems within certification requirements.
- The ability to read and create P&IDs.
- Experience in building rapid prototypes and using equipment such as 3D printers.
- Hands-on experience of using workshop equipment.
