Based at our HQ in Southend on Sea in Essex, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. This is a 12-month placement, commencing July 2023.
This is an opportunity to work with Engineers in a global manufacturing organisation to improve approaches to Design for Manufacture, component qualification and ‘right first time’ processes.
Your Responsibilities
As an Intern, you will work with an assigned Senior Engineer and will present major milestones to the wider team at the monthly meetings on three projects.
The first project will be to collate, agree and prepare the documentation and training for a Design for Manufacture (DFX) guideline procedure. The approach and guideline documents exist, this project will be about working out a plan with the Senior Engineer, collating the documentation, gaining feedback within R&D and Engineering, updating the documentation, preparing the documents for approval, and supporting the senior engineer in release and training of the procedure.
The second project will be to work with another Senior Engineer in a similar manner to release a procedure for component qualification based on the approach to component qualification in the European Olympus manufacturing sites and with reference to the automotive Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
The third project will run in parallel to the other two, and involves developing a case to present to a Senior Engineer for simulation and DfM software across manufacture and assembly, electronics and mechanical, based on current core competence.
Your Qualification
- You will be an undergraduate studying a Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
