    We are seeking to place a student within their sandwich year in the Customer Data Team to provide analytical resource on a 40-week Fixed Term Contract basis.

    The individual we are looking for will have a background in statistics, experience with SQL, Excel and Power BI. They will be a confident communicator, possess drive to enhance their data capabilities and share knowledge with the team and senior stakeholders.

    About the team

    The CDT comprises of 3 areas: Data Quality, Campaign Management and Reporting and Analytics in the Commercial department. We are a very busy team as all the campaign extractions and distributions flow through us and we use Adobe CMT and SQL to extract and manipulate data. The Reporting and Analytics area also use SQL, we also do a fair amount of visualisation MI with Power BI and all analytics is done via R. There are currently 7 people in the team, and we all work very collaboratively, when possible, to share knowledge and lighten the workload.

    We will be looking to build retention and acquisition models, continue the design of A/B tests and review statistical significance across our many calls to actions.

    The work we do feeds into product modifications and design. We segment our customer base and will look to market to only those who we believe to require the product and who will be most responsive to our campaign activity.

    We are also doing a lot of work to do with IT change as this will affect where the data will reside in the future and we are looking at new technologies and we hope to implement a CRM solution with a single customer view to aide our campaigning and reporting.

    About you

    We are looking for an individual who will demonstrate technical abilities to build statistical models and to prove statistical significance across many tasks. We are continuously reviewing our marketing campaigns with the view to better understand the business and our customers.

    We would like our candidate to be proficient in manipulating data in SQL and Excel. Ideally, they will possess excellent working knowledge of data mining packages (such as R, Python or SAS). They will also demonstrate data and analytical skills and have a track record of delivery through University work.

    A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to connect data, analytics and strategic thinking, along with the aptitude to present complex information clearly and professionally to a variety of audiences.
