    About the Role:

    As a Junior Financial Data Analyst at Optum, you will be responsible for processing capitation, conducting variance analysis and reporting to support the monthly capitation payments to our Medical Groups, Hospitals and Ancillary providers or vendors. The Financial Data Analyst is essential for ensuring analysis of month-on-month data, identifying, documenting, and resolving issues to ensure accurate and timely payments.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. This individual must also be able to prioritise and effectively handle multiple priorities, exhibit energy, and a high commitment to drive to results in a challenging, fast-paced, and high-volume environment.

    Primary Responsibilities of the Junior Financial Data Analyst:

    • Learn and build on knowledge of Capitation Operational processes, systems, procedures, and protocols. Learn and effectively use multiple platforms and systems
    • Perform and monitor production jobs, audit queries; run and analyze reports/variances, ensure payments are processed accurately
    • Produce variance analysis for preliminary capitation runs to ensure data is correct prior to running monthly capitation
    • Process manual adjustments and review Cap Payments to ensure the provider is paid timely and accurately per contracts and create backup where required
    • Ensure relevant Provider data and reporting is available to Provider according to deadlines
    • Research and resolve capitation questions from Network Mgmt., Provider Advocates, Finance, and other constituents; Also perform outreaches, follow up timely on queries
    • Independently problem solve, perform process reviews and reconciliations, research conflicting or identify inaccurate data
    • Produce various deep-dive data analyses and trend reporting, and research and explain variances in relation to membership and contract changes and capitation expenses
    • Collaborate with IT to ensure fixes are run to update data in the system and monitor outstanding tickets from submission to closure
    • Apply good judgement to challenge our current processes/procedures and submit recommendations to develop more efficient solutions
    • Identify and document process improvements, automation opportunities and collaborate with Team and IT on same

    Required Qualifications of the Junior Financial Data Analyst:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within financial or data analysis functions or roles
    • Knowledge of data analysis processes, with large data sets, including data manipulation, data mining, data analysis, and/or data visualisation
    • Ability to produce trend reports, research, and explain variances
    • Intermediate or Advanced level experience in Microsoft Excel (create pivot tables and simple formulas)
    • Ability to independently problem solve, research conflicting, or identify inaccurate data

    Preferred Qualifications of the Junior Financial Data Analyst:

    • Capitation or healthcare financial analysis/accounts payable experience
    • Experience working within a monthly timetable
    • Microsoft Access experience reporting/databases
    • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau
    • Experience working with SQL
