Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult is excited to be recruiting for a Graduate Engineer to be based within our Operations and Maintenance Centre of Excellence (OMCE) in Grimsby. The ORE Catapult is the UK’s leading Technology, Innovation and Research Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy. Working alongside industry, supply chain and academia our team supports the exploration of new technologies and techniques that make offshore renewable energy assets smarter, safer and greener.
The OMCE is focused on accelerating the transition to Industry 4.0 methodologies and techniques within the offshore wind sector, specifically the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) segment. This position is targeted at helping the industry realise its innovations in robotics and autonomous systems (RAS) and digital applications through technical support.
Tell me more about the position?
This position will be based in Grimsby to support the delivery of Smart O&M projects across the Development & Operations directorate portfolio while also supporting the local development of digital and RAS content for the OMCE. This role will work with innovative technologies and forward-thinking companies across the offshore wind supply chain, as well as companies currently operating in other sectors with an ambition to grow into the offshore wind sector.
Key facets of this role include
- Providing specialist technical support and input as necessary in the domain of O&M related digital and RAS technologies;
- Generating scopes of work, performing engineering analysis/simulations, attending technical workshops, technical report writing, presentation of results;
- Build understanding of integrating digital and RAS solutions into operational environments;
- On-site specialist technical support and liaison for RAS and digital demonstrations;
- Content creation to highlight the application and benefits of Industry 4.0 technologies;
- Developing demonstration and testing methodologies for leading-edge digital technologies and techniques;
- Technical input as required into broader portfolio O&M projects;
- Where required you will populate and maintain project outputs, reports and records relating to engineering activities and project work in accordance with ORE Catapult processes and procedures.
- Recommend development of new O&M verification assets and resources in the digital domain;
- Support the OMCE’s regional activity, STEM and community engagement initiatives;
- Assist with written deliverables such as internal progress reports and analysis of impacts; and
- Maintain thorough documentation and reports for projects in accordance with company processes;
What do I need to qualify for this role?
Required
- Educated to at least Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Proficient in 3D model generation and Computer-Aided Design of Robotic Operating systems or simulator development
- Proficient in standard software packages such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Motivated and strong team player – working individually, within and across multi-functional project teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in written and verbal English.
Recommended
- MEng or MSc.
- Experience with 3D model building for use with VR and AR technology.
- A good understanding of wind energy technology.
- Previous industry experience.
- Previously involved in industrial modelling projects.
