OSB Group has embarked on significant technology Transformation programme and we have a new opportunity to join our Group Transformation team as a Backend Engineer and join the growing Engineering team. The role reports into the Principal Engineer and will work alongside colleagues in both the UK and India to support the delivery of the Lending and Savings roadmap.

    The role has the flexibility to be based from Wolverhampton or Chatham office and benefits from our hybrid-working policy of three days a week in the office and two days from home which provides a great opportunity for collaboration and develop your skills.

    What you will be doing

    As a Backend Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to the development, testing and enhancement of our microservices architecture, system performance and cloud-based (Azure) deployments.

    Your responsibilities will include

    • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality spring boot microservices
    • Integrate and optimize back-end components for seamless user experience
    • Work with cloud platforms, specifically Azure to deploy, and manage applications
    • Ensure code is well-documented and adheres to established coding standards
    • Troubleshoot and develop solutions to support issues and bugs to ensure a seamless user experience

    Do you have the skills?

    • Good knowledge of Java, spring boot and microservices and the ability to ability to write backend code
    • Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native application development
    • Experience working with databases like SQL, NoSQL, and ORM technologies
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
