    Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

    OVO’s Trading and Portfolio Management (TPM) team is responsible for the wholesale purchase of gas and electricity for over 4 million customers in the UK Domestic Energy supply sector.

    As a TPM Graduate, you’ll spend 2 years rotating across key teams in OVO’s TPM function, learning about the fundamentals behind the Energy commodity markets and how we manage the risks posed by changing market conditions and evolving customer demand expectations.

    What will I be doing

    Your rotations could be in any of the following areas:

    Trading desk: Learn about trade execution and market fundamentals while managing OVO’s commodity market exposures

    Trading Operations and Analytics: Learn how we capture our risks in an accurate and timely manner across our IT systems

    TPM Middle Office: Learn how we report on the levels of risk we are taking and ensure that we have suitable controls in place to manage our market and operational risks

    Pricing: Learn how we price the risks presented by the UK Retail Energy supply sector while ensuring that OVO’s prices and products remain competitive and relevant in the marketplace.

    Renewable Energy Trading: Learn all about the UK and European renewable infrastructure, supporting the team in signing PPAs and procuring green certificates, ensuring that we manage the associated portfolio risks

    Working within OVO’s TPM function, you will learn from people with a wealth of experience across the Energy industry who are committed to help you kickstart your career in Energy Trading & Risk Management at a leading UK Energy supplier.

    Is this the job for me

    • We’re looking for enthusiastic, commercially minded graduates who have a passion for Energy, especially helping OVO on our mission towards Net Zero.
    • Across the duration of the scheme, you’ll be taking a number of different placements within the Trading and Portfolio Management space, developing your experience, but being expected to hit the ground running and adding value to the business straight away. As such, we are looking for a can do attitude and a strong drive for the development of career and the business.
    • As you’ll be using lots of numbers, we are looking for candidates happy with using mathematics on a day-to-day basis to analyze problems and propose solutions. As such, we’re looking for candidates with a mathematically focussed degree.
    • We’re looking for a track record of success in your academic and professional life. As such, we’re asking for a minimum 2.1 predicted or achieved Degree. We’re also keen to talk to graduates who have prior work or volunteering experience.
